Detectives are using new clues in their investigation into an unsolved slaying that happened in northwest Oklahoma City.

Police have released surveillance footage of a man detectives would like to talk to. He’s not considered a suspect in the death of Kelly Hays, the owner of 30 Penn Books near Northwest 30th Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue.

On the afternoon of Sept. 14, firefighters were called to the bookstore and found Hays already dead from what officials called “sharp-force trauma.”

Newly released surveillance footage shows a man leaving 30 Penn Books about 30 minutes before Hays’ estimated time of death.

“He appears to be a white male in his 20s wearing a backpack,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “This is not somebody we view as a suspect. It’s somebody that we believe may be a witness.”
