The Metro Nashville Police Department has released a new forensic rendering of one of the victims of a double murder cold case from 1985.
MNPD’s continued investigation by its Cold Case Unit into the 1985 murders of two women, discovered on Nov. 7, 1987, in shallow graves in the basement of a home on Charlotte Avenue, has led to the release of the new rendering.
The victims were both identified as women who were picked up by James Shaffer on the July 4 weekend in 1985 and later murdered. MNPD said Shaffer confessed to killing the women and burying them in the dirt floor of the basement.
