It’s been 40 years since a woman who was a wife, new mother and nurse vanished from Cary Village Mall.

On Jan. 8, 1984, Sandra Ross went to a drug store to pick up baby supplies for her 16-month-old girl, but she never came back to her Apex home. Ross’ husband, Robert Ross, told authorities in Wake County that she left their home to purchase groceries and medication for their baby’s diaper rash.

Authorities found Sandra Ross’ purse and items that had been inside her blue Chevy outside of Treasury Drug, but they’ve never found her body. She was 31 years old when she went missing.
