California homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in solving a decades-old cold case in San Diego County.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, 1985, a body was found at the bottom of a embankment on the north side of State Highway 22, near Borrego Springs in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

An autopsy revealed that the unidentified male had suffered “sustained trauma,” and the manner of death was deemed homicide. The exact cause of death has not been revealed by authorities for “investigative reasons,” but the sheriff’s office has now shared more details on the victim in the hope that someone may have some information.
