A woman disappears after a horrific motorcycle accident leaves her physically impaired.
CASE DETAILS  Photograph of the accident scene When she graduated from high school in 1980, Selena Edon was everything a parent could ask for. She was president of the student body and of the senior class. But Selena had always marched to her own drummer. After a brief stint in the Air Force, Selena became a journeyman construction worker in San Francisco. She joined the teamsters and bought herself a motorcycle. On November 29, 1989, Selena Edon was driving home from the union hall in downtown San Francisco when she collided with a truck. She was admitted to the hospital as Jane Doe. Her I.D. papers had disappeared in the aftermath of the accident and seven days passed before her mother and brother were tracked down in San Diego. According to her friend Laurie Gallagher, Selena had lost a significant amount of her memory:
Selena’s left eye had been permanently damaged. She suffered painful headaches. Her left thigh was crushed and a severe head injury caused fluid to build up around her brain. Still, Selena began a demanding regimen of physical therapy. According to her brother, Dion Edon, Selena was eager to regain her health:

Soon, the headaches gave way to general confusion. Physically, Selena was getting better. But according to her mother, Selena’s mental state was worsening:
 A truck swerved in front of her With her recovery stalled, Selena decided to return to San Francisco in May of 1990. She hoped that the familiarity of old friends like Laurie Gallagher would help her recovery:
Despite her erratic behavior, Selena had been in the habit of calling her mother regularly. Finally, in October of 1990, nearly one year after the accident, Clarissa Edon received a phone call she would never forget:
 Selena wasn’t the same after the accident Selena’s family hired a private investigator to search for her. Even after she told her mother she was leaving town, she was sighted in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. The investigator followed up on all the leads, but never found her. Selena’s family and friends continue to believe she’s alive somewhere in the United States, most likely lost and confused. Selena Marie Edon was born in 1962. She stands 5’7” tall and, at the time of her disappearance, weighed 110 pounds. Selena also walks with a limp.

I have seen this woman singing in Modesto, CA also, but it has been approx 5 years since I’ve been in the area. She really does match Selena’s description. I had no idea until I watched this today,, that this could possibly be her. She used to sing in front of the Gallo center daily in the evenings. Has anyone seen her or checked on her? Maybe it’s Selena?

Ok, I think she was found and her mother moved near her and they for whatever reason dont wanna update the case. These arent coincidences , thats selena residing in IL. The mother’s name is listed as staying like 2 miles from this selena edon.. Her mother’s name is Clarissa so what are the odds of a Clarissa Blanche Edon staying 2miles from this Selena Edon.. It has to be her..

I am going to do this myself. The tips have been passed on and still NOTHING. Again, sometimes law enforcement dont care.. end of story. We have been contacting detectives in Sumter county about little miss panasoffkee , that man doesnt answer my calls or emails. He could care less and im in the state of Florida, I started to travel to his office smh

I really feel as if she is still alive. She called her acquaintances a year after her disappearance, but what is troubling is that since December 31, 1991…she has never been heard from again.

I want to know if the police tracked the location of the 2 calls she made the one to her mother when she left or the one to her friend
the call to her mother if the police was able to track the call did they look for cameras in that area to see if they would have spotted her and the company she was with ??

There is a woman who sings, almost daily, for spare change outside the Main Post Office on Kearney Ave. in Modesto, Ca. to pay for food and a motel room every night. She looks a great deal like Selena. I videotaped her a year or so ago. Her voice is really pretty good. I thought I might post it on YouTube in hopes that someone would recognize her talent and give her a chance in the music industry, even if i were just as a back-up singer.
When I saw the replay of Unsolved Mysteries today, I immediately thought the woman at the Post Office and Selena looked very much alike, before I even realized she was a missing person.
I’ve never written in before on any Unsolved Mysteries stories, but I feel confident that Selena’s family should, at the very least, check to see if this woman is their missing family member.

She missed alot of her birthdays, holidays, family reunions mother, brother and other family members wants her to come home. Where ever she is I pray that she finds her way back in society. I believe I saw Selena at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL about 4 years ago. It was a chance meeting on a bridge walk. She looked just like the pictures I saw on unsolved mysteries. She was skinny, a little over 5 foot tall. Walked with a cane. I remember a huge smile on her face but a confused look. She may have been there as a patient as I was also. It was just a brief encounter but It looked like her. The only reason I remember her is that she had a kind look and that smile. Almost a forced but kind smile. She had a cane and I had crutches. But I remember her vividly. Belleville Memorial Hospital. Belleville, IL. According to the story she called her mother saying she was going to the Midwest. That’s where this it.
