A Life Cut Short

On September 30, 2004, after Brittany Phillips’ friends and family are unable to reach her for several days, police are called to do a wellness check and discover that the 18-year-old Tulsa Community College student has been sexually assaulted and brutally murdered in her apartment. Investigators hope DNA collected from the scene of the crime will lead them to her killer, but nearly 18 years have passed without a usable match. Brittany’s mother has taken the case on road with her “Caravan to Catch a Killer,” diving through 48 states and more than 260,000 miles to date and vowing not to rest until the man who killed her daughter is brought to justice.

If you have any information about the mysterious murder of Brittany Phillips, please email tips to TPDColdCaseHomicide@cityoftulsa.org, phone the Tulsa Cold Case Homicide Unit at 918-596-9133, call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-cops or leave a tip at unsolved.com.

This sounds like it was a resident of the building 80 percent or employee etc etc . Someone who knew her routine and was seeing it unless it was a random weekend and parties were going on , on a Friday or Saturday night, and stranger passed thru randomly , which I doubt. We have seen this movie over and over with the apartment residents or someone who could see her routine , or observe her daily maybe thru a window across a courtyard. Seems to always be a neighbor resident.

I just watched the story of Michelle Martinko’s cold case investigation. The cops located her killer by using the DNA match of the killer’s sibling who submitted a DNA test to an ancestor website. Have y’all thought about comparing DNA of potential family members?

That’s going pretty mainstream now with the genetic testing. The problem with this case it sounds like is they aren’t certain of all the dna samples they have which one is the killer. There is multiple dna samples from multiple people The main one was tested and found to be her friends ex boyfriend becuase they slept in her bed the weekend before. Although it didn’t say if they tested that blood on wall or something . I’d like to know who’s dna was in with the blood, they didn’t say.

Wow… you can tell from the way the Jamaican “police” told her mom about her child’s death they couldn’t have cared less. MANY residents treat Americans/tourists with barely concealed hostility. This is NOT your Mama’s Jamaica anymore. She trusted the wrong people… probably religious / cult killing.

Such a roller coaster this mom has been on. All these years thinking you have the semen of the murderer, then it turns out it was a friend who had stayed the night there and slept with her friend. I do pray the other dna they have identifies the stone cold killer that committed this heinous act. Someone had to have saw something, step up and make that call

Dear Maggie, you are always in my thoughts. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I know in my heart Brittany’s killer will be identified.
    Love, Raphaele
