On Jan. 12, 1934, the Nevada State Journal ran two sentences about a Reno man’s trip to the East Coast.

“Roy J. Frisch, deputy bank superintendent in charge of the Riverside bank, left yesterday for New York,” it read. “He will be gone about 10 days.”

That trip would change the lives of the Frisch family and lead to a mystery that persists to this day — one that Reno police are still actively investigating, they confirmed to SFGATE last week.
